The ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) course is a 3 day course explaining the basics of software testing. This course has been accredited and is addressing the requirements of the ISTQB® CTFL syllabus.
To provide an understanding of the fundamental principles of testing and explain different testing terminology. The course also provides an overview of different techniques, both dynamic and static and how to apply them.

Fundamentals of Testing
Learn the basic principles related to testing, the reasons why testing is required, what test objectives are, and the principles of successful testing. Understand the test process, the major activities, and work products
Testing throughout the software development lifecycle
Learn how testing is incorporated in every step of a software development lifecycle and about different test levels, test types, and impact analysis when working with maintenance testing.
Learn the various static techniques of testing such as static analysis and reviews (i.e., informal reviews, walkthroughs, technical reviews, and inspections).
Understand how to apply a review technique to a work product to find defects
This section explains how to identify test conditions (what to test) and how to apply test techniques to derive test cases from other software work products. The following techniques are described in some detail with practical exercises:
• Equivalence Partitioning
• Boundary Value Analysis
• Decision Tables
• State Transition testing
In addition, white-box techniques and experience-based techniques (such as exploratory testing) are described, and advice is given on choosing techniques.
Test management is covered from a perspective where the tester can work with test managers, focusing on risk-based testing, test execution and defect reporting and handling. The tester learns what could be included in the various test documentation work products, such as test plans and reports and how to report defects in a clear and understandable way.
Tool Support for Testing
The tester learns to classify tools, the risks and benefits connected with tools, and aspects of selecting and introducing tools

This course is appropriate for testers, test team leaders, developers, development managers, business analysts, and anyone wishing to gain the ISTQB® Foundation Certificate in Software Testing.

Tal Pe’er has over 20 years of experience as a tester, test manager and release manager in multiple domains from defence, video streaming, network, internet and more. He is experienced in Web, networking, communication and embedded systems. Tal Pe’er is an ISEB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) and ISTQB Certified Tester Advanced Level - Test Analyst (CTAL-TA) and Test Manager (CTAL-TM). He is the current Treasurer of the Executive Committee for ISTQB®.
In his teaching, he combines hands on exercises, games and real-world examples while preparing students for their certification exam.

Information on ISTQB:
More than 750.000 people internationally have passed the exam and its predecessors, the ISEB or ASQF Foundation. These standards have been combined to form a new and better standard in 2005 and later updated in 2011 and in 2018 by the ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) [www.ISTQB.org]. This organization consists of 59 National Boards who collaborate about syllabi, tester certification, and terminology. The exam is going to be organized by the newly formed Icelandic Software Testing Board.
In England, Germany, Switzerland, India, USA, Norway and Netherlands it is normal that testers are asked about their certificates. Many software suppliers are asked if their testers are certified.
The exam will be in English and is internationally valid.
ISTQB, International Software Testing Qualifications Board coordinates National work groups and makes sure tester training curricula and terminology are consistent.
In Scandinavia there are boards in Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Iceland. The national boards check seminar material and accredit it if its quality is good enough. This seminar and its teacher is accredited by the Icelandic board.
ISTQB-Certified-Tester qualification has three levels. The lowest level is called ”Foundation Level”. The next is "Advanced Level” and it means you can independently do testing work. The third level, ”Expert-Level” is currently being defined and means that people have a very thorough and deep knowledge about the area.
